How it Works
What is it like to work with a dietitian?
Nutrition counseling is not just about the food, and you deserve a dietitian who understands that. This is about addressing nutrition, physical activity, lifestyle, emotions, and more in a way that is supported by research and individualized to meet your unique and evolving needs.
evidence-based, highly educated and clinically trained dietitian that combines science, counseling, feminist frameworks, and a weight-neutral approach.
This isn’t about supplements.
This is about science.
…but I know you still have questions, so let’s answer them.
“Does working with a dietitian mean I will lose weight?”
What I do is help you create and implement dietary and lifestyle strategies that align with your goals and values to help you feel confident, educated, and empowered.
Whether or not this leads to weight loss is to be determined, as everybody’s body is different.
There are many strategies that we can implement to help you on your weight management journey, and I am here to walk you through each one.

“Will you just tell me what to eat?”
While dietary guidance is certainly part of our sessions, counseling is at the heart of the work we do.
We prioritize building a relationship and creating space to explore the thoughts, experiences, and beliefs that influence how we eat and care for ourselves.
We respect that every individual client has a preference for a more client-led or directive approach, and we are more than happy to accommodate your preferences.
Working with a dietitian might be new to you, so here’s the process broken down step by step!
FYI: RN&W absolutely takes insurance.
Please review our FAQs & Billing page to learn more.
Step 01
Initial Assessment
The initial assessment is 60 minutes of connecting, data gathering, and long-term goal setting.
Questions throughout the assessment will include a variety of intake questions about your lifestyle (with absolutely zero judgment.)
If there is anything you would prefer not to share during the assessment, just let us know. At the end of the initial assessment, we will make sure we are on the same page with where you hope to go with our work, and schedule our first follow up.
some topics I’ll ask you about:
Medical history
Diet history
Weight history (only if you’re comfortable!)
Eating Habits
Fluid Intake
Sleep
Step 02
Ongoing Dietitian Sessions
Follow-up sessions are shaped around what feels most useful to you. We might pick up where we left off, dive deeper into something we’ve been working on, or tackle something entirely new that’s come up since our last session.
Want to plan meals and snacks for the week? I got you. Want to know whether the nutrition advice you heard on TikTok is actually accurate? I also got you. Sessions are your time, and we’ll focus on what feels most relevant to you in that moment.
Step 03
Build Peace & Confidence Around Food
Continued sessions work with you and your schedule. Some people do weekly, some do biweekly, but we make sure we stay consistent around your needs.
You’ll begin to experience more peace, confidence, and comfort around food, nutrition, and your health.

“I've been working with Lauren at Restorative Nutrition & Wellness for nearly a year, and I cannot recommend her enough. As someone who hasn't always felt comfortable in nutrition spaces, Lauren has created a truly welcoming, judgment-free environment where I've felt supported from day one.
Her personalized, science-based approach has helped me better understand my nutritional needs, build sustainable habits specific to my life, and make meaningful progress on my personal goals without guilt, shame, or restriction.
I'm so grateful for everything Lauren has taught me and for helping me build a healthier, more compassionate relationship with myself and nutrition.”
